Fiber Optic Nintendo Game Boy Store Sign

March 15th, 2010

And the people bowed and prayed to the [fiber optic] god they made…

A friend and fellow retro video game collector received this fantastic fiber optic Nintendo Game Boy sign for Christmas.  Lucky guy!  His dad (yes, his dad keeps an eye out for things for his collection…lucky guy) saw it come up for sale at an area auction and snatched it up for him.  It’s complete in original box including foam inserts and the original customer feedback card.  The sign is so incredibly beautiful that I had to record and share it.  It’s given me a deep appreciation for well done promo items.  For more photos, check out the gallery below the video.  Happy retro gaming & collecting!

Rare Video Games & Collectibles on eBay: Uncharted 2 Fortune Hunter Edition

March 12th, 2010

With a limited edition of only 200 of these having been made, the Uncharted 2 Fortune Hunter Edition for Playstation 3 is one of the rarest special editions in production.  Here’s one on eBay for your viewing pleasure.  With 6 days to go, the auction is already up to $660.00 USD!

eBay seller christophersnintendocollectibles is also including a limited edition concept art print in the auction and explains that it “is a Framed Naughty Dog Concept Art Piece from Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, signed by Naughty Dog, which was also never available at retail. It was only available to win at PAX (Penny Arcade Expo) 2007.”

** Rare N64 Prototype – Translucent purple/white ** While it may be possible to make a similar N64 by taking apart and 2 N64s and swapping one top for another, I haven’t seen that lighter white/light gray color of a bottom before.  The seller explains the following about this unit’s design.  “Up for sale is a N64 Prototype console in translucent clear purple/white color as you can see on the photos – This prototype was manufactured back in 1998/1999 for Nintendo of Europe together with eleven other N64 Prototypes before releasing the famous Funtastic Color Series. Nintendo produced several colors to decide which of them will hit the maket. This one did not!”
